I am a stateless Kurdish artist from south Kurdistan/northern Iraq living and working in Indiana. My nation is divided amongst four different countries. Therefore, I use art as a tool to express political and social problems in my society. I studied western art, concentrating on formalism figurative and conceptual both in Iraq and in the US. However, I am in constant search for an identity, alternating between western and eastern culture.

My works consist of various styles and media, video art, installations, and paintings. I create art by reorganizing and reforming shapes and materials. My work is storytelling expressed by calligraphy or visual symbols. The subject matters in my artworks tend to be political and social issues for example honor killing, genocide, or suppression.
