Master copy in gouache on 8x10 Arches cold press watercolor paper. Edgar Payne’s South Rim, Grand Canyon, ~1929. 25x30 in. “Payne….led the ideal life for a landscape painter. He was peripatetic, he was adventuresome, and he always traveled with his wife and daughter in a high powered car.” 🏎️ -Edgar Payne: The Scenic Journey.

Frame and mat not included.

My gouache paintings are quite special as they are 100% archival after a three step varnishing process. (Credit and huge thanks go to artist Lena Rivo for helping me with this process). What does this mean exactly? Well, you can frame them without glass (just like an oil painting) and they can be cleaned if they ever need to be. This is pretty neat for a gouache painting, as they usually need to be protected behind glass. I’m very happy to have this as an option for these paintings. Bonus: They still retain the beauty of matte, velvety gouache even  after being varnished. They are beautiful! I love this medium and this new process. There will be many more.
