White Tongue

Defined by swirling washes of oil and acrylic and thick applications of colorful paint, Uzo’s White Tongue is a musical exercise in abstraction. The brighter and more reflective acrylic perfectly complements the deep rich hues of the oil. The thick impasto, gestural brushstrokes, liberated drips and splatters of pigment, and beautifully balanced palette come together in an enlivening and tactile composition. White Tongue has a pronounced musical presence that derives from the acrobatic flourishes of Uzo’s brush and spinning forms that pirouette around the deep and enigmatic washes of paint. Like a rousing symphony, all the shapes and hues combine, overlap, and harmonize without drowning out or overpowering one another. The colors cascade down and around the canvas in all directions drawing the viewer into White Tongue.
