Dunia Barrera

Dunia Barrera (Madrid, 1979) I am a collagist artist with a photography background. I have been always interested in vintage elements and typography. Paper has been a constant in my work, manipulating and altering the paper in the photography lab. In the times where Photoshop didn´t exist, the use of materials like light bulbs or orange nets were the door to try new things in my photography develop processing. Now in the collage world, I think my work shows humor and kind of nostalgia. I am interested in the way we connect ideas, concepts and the self. Nowadays I like to explore the ideas and meaning we make when we read, the words and symbols that translate into something different depending who´s reading it. I am a firm believer that collage is highly therapeutic. I live currently and work in Munich, Germany.
