The title of this piece comes from "Song of Myself" by Walt Whitman:

"All goes onward and outward ....and nothing collapses,

And to die is different from what any one supposed, and lucker."

Flowers are magical and meaningful to me, and it is such an honor and joy to paint them. To me they mean new life, regeneration, the continuity and cycle of life and death. To continue that theme, this painting was actually created directly on top of another work, and some texture and colors from the original painting can be seen incorporated into this new piece. This still life was created using mostly a brayer and palette knives which create lots of interesting textures. The surface has a very three-dimensional, almost jewel-like quality.

This piece was painted alla prima, using professional-quality oil paints and varnished to protect the surface. Each painting is carefully packaged for shipping and includes a personalized note from the artist.
