Midtownish
I've loved this old building close to 36th Street for a long time. The way the huge arched windows reflect light at different times of day. And I've loved faded advertising on brick buildings, too. So here I get to work out two personal favorites.
(I also love water towers.)
The shadow wasn't in my photographs, I just thought the composition balanced out with a darker area toward the bottom.
I knew when I started that the last stage would be the lines of the stonework in the building, and that the colors used in these outlines would be the most entertaining part for me, and that they would allow me to make the whole thing a balanced, harmonious artwork.
