Angela's Crest

I was invited to be part of a project with Cindy Lauper's True Colors residence in Harlem in 2015. The True Colors Residence founded by Cindy Lauper was the first home for homeless LGBT youth. Each artist was paired with one of the residence of the home. I was commissioned to do a portrait of Angela. Actually, she told the curator at the time that she would only participate in the project if she could have her portrait done by me. It was such a great project. Angela and I hit it off right away. We had both been described at one point in our lives as being Over the Top. She was an amazing person. She left the home and moved to LA to become a model. The piece sits in the collection of The True Colors Residence.
