Madame Butterfly

Here's my most recent painting, finished earlier this week. Being in the midst of the doldrums of winter, I wanted to create something that was bright and uplifting. My mind turned to blue skies with wispy clouds and the thought of hundreds of butterflies literally lifting someone up and away was so preposterous that I had to paint it. I decided on a ballerina, whose pose is actually right before or perhaps after a landing. I hope you enjoy it!
