Sara spent her formative years exploring different creative paths, such as sewing, crafting, baking, and writing. As a child, she dove into any creative project she could find. Sara continued to follow these passions, and in 2005, graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. After graduation, Sara began her career by curating, exhibiting, teaching, and selling her art. She spent several years working from the Park Trades Center, but began to work from her home studio in 2012. Sara’s preferred medium is acrylic, but she loves to paint with oils and use a variety of other mediums.


Over the past 16 years, Sara has exhibited her artwork in numerous shows both regionally and nationally and has won awards in juried competitions such as First Place in the 2022 Regional Juried Arts Competition at the Carnegie Center for the Arts, Three Rivers Michigan  (January 2022), selected as a Top 20 Finalist for the First Bloems Art Competition/ Holland Michigan’s 2022 Tulip Time Festival,   “Best Painting” at The Box Factory for the Arts Annual Juried Competition in both 2007 and 2011. Her paintings reside in private and corporate collections, which include Bronson Methodist Hospital and the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. Her paintings can also be found on wine labels at the Tempo Vino Winery in Kalamazoo.

Sara lives with her husband and their three daughters. Her additional hobbies include baking and cooking, running and hiking, planting flowers, sewing and painting furniture, and spending time with her daughters. Sara has a  beloved goldendoodle/ studio mate named Chewie.  A perfect day for Sara includes painting in her studio, crafting with her daughters, and going for a long run when the sun is shining!
