Beach

The healing power of the beach has attracted artists and painters through the ages. Ocean water helps humans enter the flow state where we become fully immersed in the immensity and beauty of a body of water. The tactile quality of the sand, the smell of the ocean, the rhythmic sound of the waves, all enter our bodies and calm our minds. The ocean also produces a sense of awe, the emotional response to something vast that expands how we see the world. Awe can decrease stress and help us put things into perspective. Are we a part of and inside the beauty of nature?.

The beach elevates nature's positive impact and the steady and soft sound of water soothes us. The smell provokes positive memories, maybe a time when we were children and played with the waves. Maybe we associate the beach with a time of leisure, family vacations, summer. Ocean water is dynamic and one never gets bored with looking at the waves coming and going, jumping them, entering the playful nature of the push and pull. One can sit and observe the coming and going of the waves, or the horizon, or the reflections of a sunset and feel at peace.
