Monika Stockton Maddux

Monika Stockton Maddux is a visionary and an artist. She was born on May 5, 1979 in Wichita, Kansas, she is the daughter of two entrepreneurs: Joseph Stockton, a brick and stone mason and Katrina Stockton, a tailor. She has two older sisters and one younger brother. Monika Maddux graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics in 2004. After graduation, Monika built a workshop, opened a gallery, got married, had kids and started a business with her husband. In 2019, Maddux completed her education with a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture from Wichita State University. Her Thesis Exhibition was MONIKAHOUSE, the transformation of a Victorian home into Monika's Life Size Dollhouse, the show was well-received and gained international recognition. Monika’s work involves themes of family, children and loss, while she creates an emotional narrative that invokes an intense response from the viewer. She lives in Wichita with her husband, artist W. Jarrod Maddux and their sons. They run No Craft Left Behind, an artist's resource and founded Creativity Preservation Society, a nonprofit that restores historical homes while hosting Master Builder Artist residencies.
