Founder of Altamira

I love to create things from scratch and drive them through to completion. I also love art. As a kid, my aunt owned a gallery in Basalt. I spent summers with my grandparents in nearby Aspen so spent a lot of time in the gallery. I was fascinated by how the business worked and of course the art. Seeing this they started my collection by giving me my first piece for my 10th birthday. I still have that piece.

Prior to Altamira, I spent 8 years at Clique Studios, a top national design firm headquartered out of Chicago. There I started as a UX designer then transitioned to launching and managing new offices.

In 2013 I helped launch the Chicago Venture Summit, sitting on the steering committee until 2021.

From 2017-2019 I taught a class on web design at The University of Chicago Graham School.

Diptychs on Altamira

Diptychs are an important form of art that has been used throughout history to create visually striking and thought-provoking works. A diptych is a work of art that consists of two panels.

Diptychs were commonly used in the Renaissance period to create altarpieces and other religious works, but they have also been used by modern artists to create a range of artistic expressions.

One of the key features of diptychs is their ability to create visual depth and movement. The viewer is able to see different aspects of the work and experience it in a dynamic way. This allows the artist to create a sense of narrative or progression within the work, and to explore different ideas and themes.

Another important aspect of diptychs is their ability to create a sense of mystery and intrigue. By only revealing part of the work at a time, the artist is able to create a sense of anticipation and curiosity in the viewer. This can be used to great effect to draw the viewer into the work and to create a sense of drama and tension.

In addition to their visual impact, diptychs also have a rich history and cultural significance. In the Middle Ages, diptychs were often used to tell religious stories and to illustrate moral lessons. These works were often created by skilled craftsmen and were considered to be important works of art. In modern times, diptychs have been used by artists to explore a wide range of themes and ideas, from personal to political.

Overall, diptychs are an important form of art that have been used throughout history to create visually striking and thought-provoking works. They are characterized by their ability to create visual depth and movement, to create a sense of mystery and intrigue, and to have a rich history and cultural significance.
