Katherine Keltner

Katherine Keltner uses natural elements from her surroundings to produce gestural and open metaphorical abstractions that are geographically specific yet speak to collective human experience, questioning assumptions about familiar forms. Keltner earned a BA from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, began graduate architecture work at Columbia University, New York, NY, and went to on earn an MFA from American University, Washington, D.C. The artist has participated in exhibitions at The Katzen Arts Center, American University Museum, Washington, D.C.; Field Projects, NY, NY; Max Protetch Gallery, NY, NY; Meulensteen, New York, NY; Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Queens, NY; Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Sweet Lorraine Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT; among others. In 2021, Keltner had her second solo exhibition at Sweet Lorraine Gallery, where she also curated the exhibition Stuffed in 2017. In 2018, Keltner had a two-person show at the American University Museum with her long-time colleague, Luc Dubois. Keltner is currently working on an oral history and biography of the art critic and historian Barbara Rose, for whom she worked. Keltner currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
