Jeff Carpenter

Jeff Carpenter was born in 1953 in Greenville, Delaware and grew up in the landscape that Andrew Wyeth was painting. He went to the Rhode Island School of Design, where he earned a BFA Film, in 1976. His thesis project, a short animated film funded by a grant from the American Film Institute, played the Cannes, Berlin, Telluride, and New York film festivals. Carpenter has been exhibiting paintings and installation art consistently since 1987. His work has been shown at P.S.1, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Galerie Hans Mayer, and the Centre Pompidou. He has received support from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, the Puffin Foundation, and the Rhode Island Foundation.
