J’ ATELIER9 ™️

J’ ATELIER9 ™️

Artbox curated group exhibition featuring J' Atelier9 currently on view from Mar 15- 30th at Mary Paxon Gallery in Cultural Arts Center.

J' ATELIER9™️ Solo Exhibition: AVANT GARDE was on view from Jan 29th - Mar 18, 2024 at The Glenmark. SADIE & MADDIE, the S&M bondage vanguards debuted as part of her installation for her AVANT GARDE Solo Exhibition. J 'Atelier9 portrays & co-curates a series of provocative, mesmerizing, perverse, fascinated vanguard works.

The anonymity of the covered faces highlight our dehumanized culture of hiding behind screens, emails, texts, pseudonyms to polarize ourselves in creating distance, gate keepers, space, privacy, or avoiding physical contact & personal interaction.

The masks illustrate the double edge sword, where stigmatized behaviors of the criminal or perverse can reveal one’s truest or deepest expression or dark vices; yet the anonymity allows one to behave recklessly or without regard, especially when there is no specific identity attached to the individual.

The S&M bondage vanguards illustrate the utmost secrets we keep hidden away.. buried by the shame from traditional cultures. The vanguards disrupt this notion of being disgraceful within their dehumanization, to maintain their conforming or morale image.

The netted mesh provide the anonymous vanguards with a sense of personality, style, and individual voice; while protecting their real identity.

”Artisan Crafted” Visionary and Painter, J’ Atelier9™️ (IG: @jatelier9), was founded and created by Los Angeles based sustainable fine artist, Janine Tang. As a Hong Kong born artist, whom grew up in Southern California, she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics.

Her deeply rooted humble & cultural upbringing conditioned her to reuse & repurpose at an early age. This philosophy has extended over to her sustainable mindfulness. Her discipline focuses on her movement towards a "circular environmental cycle" by sourcing reclaimed materials into her practice to heighten her impact on carbon footprint.

Growing up as a Chinese American and influenced by discrimination and socio-economic disparities, she dissects aspects of societal programming within the matrix, while creating a wondrous majestic world of optimism and reflection.

At the underbelly of J' Atelier9, is an atelier/studio reconciling cause and effect within her artistry. She delicately confronts opposition, fragility, and controversy as part of her connection and voice.

What distinguishes her discipline are her substrates - methodically built from reclaimed and reused mixed media. Her environmental contribution is commingled into her narrative, as her art ripples into shared experiences, personal displacement, and uneasy confrontations. She allows her selectively repurposed materials and her intuitive process to reach their pinnacle of inherent patina, imperfection, or rawness.

J' Atelier9 merges the interconnectedness of the world through her awareness by voicing our culture's sensationalism of media, global discourse, planet preservation, glorification of materialism, cross cultural evolution, and complex facets of duplicity.

Artisan hand crafted and reconstructed, her works merge into an insightful tapestry of individuality, unconvention, whimsical, and sustainability. She experiments with a mixture of hued palettes, unusual textures, and composition, while swirling bold hues of expansive process, contrast, and mood.

J' Atelier9 disrupts the transcendent beauty of adaptive repurposing in her works by merging structural forms, fluid shapes, and experimental techniques. She is known to blend pigmented acrylic paints and textured paste onto layers of reclaimed mixed media from newsprint, ephemera, recycled bags, and repurposed boards.

J 'Atelier’s next upcoming solo exhibition slated for Dec 2024 at the Mary Paxon Gallery in the Cultural Arts Center.

Her artwork was exhibited at Gallery 825 for the SuperSense exhibit, curated by Cynthia Penna. She has showcased at the 98th Anniversary Benefit Auction for Los Angeles Art Association, Huntington Beach Art Center, Laguna Art Gallery. Her international group exhibit at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum for the 22nd Japan International Art Exchange Exhibition curated by Julienne Johnson, debuted AIR-NERGY; which became part of the International Art Exchange's Chairman, Professor Katsu Shimmin's, permanent museum and corporate collection. SWISS VALAIS showcased at Yerevan Art Expo for the permanent collection of Karen Demirchyan Museum. SELF OPTIMISM showcased for Sasse Museum on SeeMe exhibition, juried by Deena Capparelli.
