Title and the Work
Titles often influence works significantly. For this reason, many modernist painters chose to leave their works untitled or simply numbered. However, contemporary abstraction often allows for the title to influence the viewers understanding of the work. At least in these cases, the titles of the work influence how they are viewed in some small sense.
