During quarantine of 2020 I was running out of subjects to paint, so I wanted to make a work that had almost no meaning behind it, other than it was lacking originality, which a lot of still life's can be. I took a picture of a snake plant in my studio at night with the flash on, so you know it's fake lighting and it's inside of a home. During the pandemic everyone was stuck inside for months on end, so it became a pretty monotonous period for a lot of people. It's essentially a piece about being bored, and a still life of a house plant can be the most dull subject.
