Longing for that island

Dreams go ashore in the bright

light of the full moon

A deserted island off the coast, always unreachable but now seemingly so close in the light of the moon.

With this artwork "Island Of Dreams" Jacob Berghoef and I present to you a new artwork in this unique series of Karina painting on a print of one of Jacob’s photographs.

The photo is printed on museum quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag. Karina painted with ink and watercolor. Size 12"x18", ±30x45cm.

Karina Mosser’s Island of Dreams is an evocative painting delivering a pronounced effect with an economy of means. Sky, moon, ocean, and beach are the only inhabitants of the painting; however, it does not appear barren but rich with life and possibility. We all have an association with such a scene—vacation, escape, peace, or lifelong goal—and we are incapable of seeing the landscape without the baggage we bring to it. So, no matter how devoid of activity the work appears, we know that it depicts a place teeming with life and adventure. We long for a beach—the sound of the waves, the calm found relaxing on its shores—and unconsciously bring these impressions with us. Mosser does not need to paint in lifeforms and undertakings, because we do this for her with the associations inspired by our personal histories.

Thank you! I truly believe that minimalism speaks, all we need is to use our imagination!
