5 PM, Bourgeois Table

This work recalls a vivid memory of my childhood. It is an ironic tribute to the bourgeois mentality in which I grew up but which I don't feel a part of. The table is set for tea-time at 5 pm. Every object is in its usual place. Teacups, the flower pot, cards, the ashtray with cigarettes, and everything else, are symmetrically placed on the table to express the sense of a conventional culture of tradition and respectability.
