Peek-A-Boo

I wanted to draw this Macaw as the second piece to draw in color. I never used color before and after my first bird, I felt like I had a good handle on it and went in for something colorful and even a little playful, as if the bird was playing peek-a-boo from the side of the paper with the viewer. This differed a bit from the gloomy backdrop of my other portraits. I wanted to provide viewers with a laugh and a smile and shine the light on endangered wildlife from an upbeat angle instead of a dark side. The realism is unbelievable in this piece and although the colors may seem limited, it still is very vibrant and the colors jump off the page.
