The Cloud and the Crane
The most recent in a series of unexpected surrealist cranes. In this case, honoring the history of that genre, Rene Magritte in particular. The prior paintings all underscored the cranes in an environment that was unexpected, and unnatural for that species. This painting places the crane in its natural habitat, but the surrealistic element is found in the unusual composition. I found myself breaking many of the rules that I had held sacred for most of my career.
