There is something about getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things, playing not only with the way that you can apply paint but with the substrate that you're using or (in this case) the color you're painting on.

For this painting, I primed the paper with acrylic gesso and then applied a coat of lemon yellow acrylic painting that I had never used before.

Playing with the color relationships on this surface was not only a challenging but such a fun experience, and I love the little holes in the painting that allow us to see the yellow popping out here and there.
