Ministering Angel as a Flaming Fire
Painted during the height of the Pandemic, this Angel represents all the people in my life who selflessly give.
When I was very young, we were in the process of moving after we lost our home due to financial strain. It was December, and we couldn’t spare the money for a Christmas tree that year. My sister and I were quite sad about this, until one night we came home to find someone had anonymously given us a tree on our porch! What had been a deep sadness at the loss of a favorite tradition became joy as I got to experience having a real, live, non-plastic tree for the holidays!
In March 2020, my husband and I were broke college students, and there were lots of things we needed and couldn’t find at the store due to shortages. As it was for most people around the world, we were isolated and filled with anxiety. One night, we heard a knock on the door, and when we opened it, there was nobody, but somebody had left a massive box of groceries and household essentials.
This painting is a stand-in to encapsulate all the laughs, groceries, shoulders to cry on, cheers, refuges, and people to help me change a tire, etc that others have given me.
The model for this painting is my mother, who has the biggest heart but gives everything she has to help others in need.
