Against Judith Butler, who criticized the traditional philosophers' prioritizing of the core (soul) rather than the surface (body), I argue that the core exists prior to the act of the doing/performance, and it is simultaneously transformed by the action/performance as much as it dictates and/or influences the action/performance. Identity is not predicated on a verb but actually comprises a sentence structure, in which everything including the subject, verb ,object, adjectives, adverbs, and so on matter and influence on another in a highly complex dance or endless waltz.
