Air-Nergy is exhibited for the 22ND JAPAN INTERNATIONAL ART EXCHANGE EXHIBITION at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in June 2023 in Taito City, Tokyo, Japan.
AIR-NERGY is constructed and built upon layers of aggregate and reclaimed paper elements. From recycled cardboard, ephemera, newsprint, & bags, AIR-NERGY is constructed to display the beauty of our skies while air ballooning into the atmosphere. There is correlation to spacial environment while spotlighting the adventurous ride of floating on Cloud 9. The selection of soothing pastels against peach undertones soften the transition centered around the blue skies. The hues are left somewhat translucent in targeted areas, in order to reveal what lies beneath.
The iconic Energizer Bunny is a metaphor with the perpetual energy to keep going, while the homage made by the former LV artistic director, Virgil Abloh, "If you made it this far, thank you for your time." Mr Abloh defied cross cultural barriers into a luxury fashion house with his profound artisan direction and bold visions.
The uplifting mood paints a whimisical spirit, where going with the flow into the unknown can be exhilarating. Yet, it conflicts with the confounds of structure surrounding us. The ride into the unknown can offer a freedom that many only dream of exploring.. Losing control is liberating.
