Fall Birches
2021
4" x 4" in. framed canvas in 9" x 9"in. shadowbox (miniature painting)
This is probably one of my favorite things to paint is birch trees in the fall. Just love the intense yellow in the leaves always stand out in a scene up here in New Jersey. Here the that birch yellow is in the background since all the leaves are almost gone giving a contrast with the purple bark. The dark purple in the painting is suppose to be a familiar, pleasant, relaxing color just like the trees are a familiar and relaxing plant in nature for me. I grew up around birches; I am familiar with the structure of this tree. I remember peeling off the bark of these tress just so mesmerized by the thin layers looking like paper. It is one of the first species of trees that a fell in love with. How can one forget their first love?
