This painting reflects on the memories a space can hold. This is the backyard of my mother's home, formerly my aunts. I can't tell you the hours I've spent back there and watched all of the changes over the years. A painted garage, a small fence put up, volleyball nets, and kids doing figure eights on their lawn mowers (yes really) are things that occupy that space.

The sky opening up is really a reflection of how this space led me to feel, a vast unknown surrounded by pleasant memories. I like to think that this is the beginning of a new exploration but still with it's feet planted firmly in something bygone.
