Rowan Creek
2020
I started this painting right after I graduated from college (2011) and actually did not finish it until last year (2020). It is taken from a photograph I took (I usually use photos I take unless otherwise stated) of Rowan Creek at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. Right behind the art building there is a patch of woods that you can walk through to get to the engineer building. I went back there and took a few photographs and got this lovely scene of late fall and wanted to turn it into a painting. I always find it interesting when there are big tall buildings and they have all this pretty yard work done right up to a point and then it turns into this overgrown, unkept woodland area that just keeps growing and spreading every year like it is trying to take back the land. This is one of those scenes and areas that are like that.

Not a criticism. I really do admire the patience it took to do all that detail. Lovely job.

I'm sorry, I did as a compliment. I am very proud to spend a lot of time on my paintings. I just wish the photographs showed more detail.
