This is a unique large modern PMS abstract acrylic painting that will make a statement in your home or office. This piece has a mature, modern design aesthetic. This piece is fierce and full of energy, beauty, pain and fire. It is an expression of a personal struggle with debilitating chronic pain. The colors streak and overlap, while also being contrasted by subtle and bold color shifts. The accents of black, bright yellow, white, red and deep blue is both modern and striking. It is a passionate piece that will be a statement painting in your space. Fragments of surface color and movement peak through the top layers of paint as bold colors streak and slice across the surface, creating a unique painterly design piece. It is truly a large abstract modern painting like no other that will enhance your space.

Note: This painting is painted on artist-stretched, 1.5" deep, large gallery wrap canvas and comes hang ready with the sides painted red and yellow, as an extension of the surface painting.

This painting is signed on the front and includes my Certificate of Authenticity.

Unabashedly abstract, personal, and brimming with emotion Preston M. Smith (PMS)’s Slow Burn draws the viewer in with thick, overlapping coats of acrylic. The work recalls contemporary art master Gerhard Richter’s squeegeed abstract paintings. But Smith charts his own path and does not use Richter’s rolling squeegee technique to realize Slow Burn’s overlapping coats of pigment, resulting in thicker impasto that bursts forth from the canvas and lends the painting a degree of three-dimensionality.

The fluid sideways direction of the brushwork and the enigmatic, varied, and rich tones provides the present work with a palpable kinetic energy that ignites any environment. A lively yet restrained composition, Slow Burn harmoniously marries a subdued palette with kaleidoscopic intrusions of bright yellows, reds, and gradating blues. The work has such an enlivening presence that even abstract adverse viewers will become lost in its endless, overlapping layers.
