Expressed in a style that lies somewhere in-between Italian Futurism and Robert Delaunay’s colorful depictions of the Eiffel Tower, Robert Petrick’s "Room with a view" describes a bustling cityscape. The work's kaleidoscopic hues, powerful sense of movement, and beautifully chaotic overlapping explosions of loose geometric forms lives and breathes the overwhelming yet enlivening experience of city life. The joyful and liberated brushstrokes defining this urban phantasmagoria are an ode to city life. Petrick pays homage to the commotion, colors, noise, constant movement, and jutting architecture of New York City. He paints as someone deeply familiar with his subject (and what a subject!); someone who has been emersed in the city for so long that they have become a part of it; one of the many lungs that breathe new life into the urban jungle every day.
