This painting has an incredible story attached to it about an owl trapped in a chimney. Over the course of several weeks as we desperately tried to find a way to rescue it, I was simultaneously painting this piece for an upcoming art exhibition. The stress and worry about the owl possibly perishing in there must have subconsciously affected my work, for when we finally rescued the bird and got it to rehabilitation, I finished the painting a couple days later only to discover the face of the owl. It was a profound moment.
