NYT is an anagram for Not Yet Titled. Often my work will suggest a title immediately, but at other times it is enigmatic even to me. Untitled seems so definitive a term—fixing the work in one moment and denying the life it will surely have beyond my hand—so I prefer the more open-ended NYT.

Wow, I am struck by that NYT concept. For years I have avoided ever using Untitled because it seemed disingenuous. Bravo. Going to put that club in my bag so to speak.
