This piece is mixed media with handmade papers, acrylic and ribbon. A nice contrast came about between the colorful busy part on the top and the more serene circles on the bottom separated by a fragile soft ribbon. The ribbon was collaged on then painted over and removed for a bit of textural effect. The handmade paper on top was applied and then some of it sanded off to create the effect seen here.

Your knowledge and curiosity about materials shine through in this piece, Joyce. There are certainly some undertones of stratification — layers that may or may not be more wholesome than the others. I like the jagged and rough upper juxtaposed by the rounded pattern beneath.
