A piece to uplift you when you are down.

Accompanied by writing for my book 30-Days: Exploring the Shifting Landscape of the Mind

DEFLATED. A goal slips through the cracks. Something you hoped to achieve didn’t happen how you thought it would and now, like a balloon, you are limp and flimsy. You disappointed yourself. You let down the one person who is around all the time: you.

This gives you two choices. You can either give up entirely. You can let that lack of confidence and complete loss of optimism bring you down until you are lying helpless and deflated like a popped balloon on the floor. Or, you can slowly fill yourself back up. Breath by breath, you can let yourself rise.

When trapped in the ebb and flow of life, there are difficulties that might puncture you, letting all your air out like a slow leak. A loss of a loved one, a hurting friend, or even just a bad morning can compromise your confidence. But to let yourself down—to let any of your goals and hopes fall through your fingers—can deflate you completely.

But it’s not hopeless. Letter by letter, word by word, you can rewrite your script. You can revise your internal monologue and battle the fears festering within you, making you think you are not enough or not worthy. You can blow yourself back up again, breath by breath, until you float above the ground. That is when you can finally appreciate the efforts you made for yourself each and every day.

You are worthy of every breath and every breath is worthy of you.
