Thank you, so much, Jennifer! As an Abstract Artist it is rare that I create floral art...this one have gained momentum in attention...it started out as an Alcohol Ink that I photographed and digitally manipulated.

Lorena Malm’s Center of Attention is a richly painted composition that recalls the work of one of my favorite artists, Georgia O'Keefe. The concept of a center has been a constant throughout art history. Not only are artists, curators, and art historians (from my experience, the latter two in particular) obsessed with establishing a focal point in any given composition, but the very idea and aesthetic make-up of a center are often the subjects of art throughout the ages. Because of its metaphorical baggage, the preoccupation with this theme is more important than it may initially sound. Phallic imagery is tiresomely constant throughout the history of artistic expression, but so is its more interesting opposite (yonic imagery) despite a sexist aversion to recognizing its presence. Besides being one of the greatest painters of the 20th century, O’Keefe is famous for codifying a long-established yet broadly denied aesthetic trope: the power, presence, and infinitely more engaging expression of yonic imagery over its mind-numbingly boring and completely tired counterpart. I am not imparting any intention to Malm’s work but only highlighting the metaphorically rich nature of its forms and its place in the tradition of pioneering artists like Georgia O’Keefe.

Thank you, ever so much, SkOt! It is one of my favorite in using an alcohol ink image to begin this composition lending the beautiful blend of color.
