I Found My Identity with My Head in the Clouds
This piece is representative of my lifelong struggle with solidifying my identity. Growing up queer and Muslim in America, I was constantly told what I should and shouldn't be. That followed me into adulthood where I created an imposter that took my place in the world. I wanted to live true to myself though but continued to further push away from my true self by latching on to an identity. I was lost in the clouds, not able to see past the labels I put on myself and others. It was in the clouds that I realized, I can be whatever and whoever I want and I don't have to label it. My identity can be fluid and confusing, and still, be true to who I am.
