A Japanese myth borrowed from Chinese folklore, the Baku was created from all the spare animal parts, after the gods were finished with creation. The Chinese viewed it as a nocturnal intruder and devourer of dreams. For the Japanese it is a protective creature that only eats the nightmares of children. from the collaboration with my son, "The Presumptive Bestiary.."
