Because of him she always wore stripes
A month in Venice during lockdown provided me with enormous inspiration. Without the crowds of tourists, Venice had an intimacy, and I could observe individuals. I made stories about people I saw or whom I imagined, and from those stories came this image. The arcade I passed every day on my way to the Rialto market. This is a hand-pulled print from a carved sheet of linoleum. Limited edition of 40 prints.

The juxtaposition of lines is really nice in this piece, Melissa. Although the woman's dress is the first point of focus, the longer I look the more I appreciate the details and perspective within her surroundings.
