Mother and Child

Oil paint and oil pastel on canvas. 40" x 28.5". I have been wanting to paint large scale versions of Zoe's tablet drawings for a while. For one, I think children can truly achieve abstraction through grabbing whatever colors they enjoy together, laying them down, and representing symbols that stand for objects or in this case animals, that they wish to see. It made me joyful to recreate such happy and silly kittens, as I imagine they make Zoe delighted when she created them.
