This work represents protestors running from police through sparks and clouds of tear gas. In 2016 a police officer fatally shot Keith Lamont Scott, a 43-year-old African-American man in Charlotte, NC. This was just one incident in a long string of police shootings across the U.S. Protestors took to the streets and were met by police in riot gear. Eventually, protests turned into riots, as violence met violence.
