Playful and refreshing, Lynne Taetzsch’s "Fantasy Land" eschews dire subject matter and implications for a lighthearted romp through child-like imagination, unsullied by the repressions of adulthood. The work evokes joy. It does not push the viewer towards an ideology or difficult self-reflection but instead offers them an oasis from their cares and concerns. It demands nothing from the viewer but, rather, gives them an escape to the purity and undiluted pleasure of the long-yearned after childhood world. We unavoidably lose some degree of our preadolescent imagination and constant wonderment and excitement. Our dreams move away from fantasy and towards anxiety. It was once so easy to escape into the recesses of our minds without the constant intrusion of cares and concerns. Hanging on your wall, like a window into a forgotten world, "Fantasy Land" allows you to rediscover and take comfort in what was once thought lost forever. This is the power of art.
